About

Here's what we're about...

Ladyfesto

We believe in giving mindfully.

Giving locally sourced, impeccably crafted, functional art created by passionate makers. We know where the product we endorse comes from, how it’s made, and who makes it.

We only work with authentic, good people who put positive intention into their product; people who believe in building community, and having a positive impact on the world.

We value thinking before buying, and thinking before making the product we create ourselves.

We enjoy giving useful things that are beautiful; things that stand the test of time, and can be passed down for generations.

We love history and culture, and want to learn more about the practice of giving around the globe.

We get great satisfaction from finding the perfect gift for people we care about.

We support local charities with each project we take on.

We believe that giving is living.

The Lady Behind the Presents

Giving the perfect gift to the people I care about has always been my favourite thing to do.

Finding these “perfect gifts” was never an easy task. I can’t count the times I had an idea and couldn’t find what I was looking for. This involved me having to either make a lot of things myself, or find someone else to make things I didn’t have the skill set to create.

For years I have been the person people call for gift ideas, and get really excited about compiling lists of suggestions.

I have a degree in design and love making things in all different mediums, therefore I contribute at least one handmade item to every A of G collection.

I am not even remotely normal and am completely okay with that fact. Who wants to be normal anyways? Normal = boring.

In case you care, here are 8 fun facts about me:

  1. I brush my teeth with my eyes closed (always have, always will).
  2. My favourite colour is rainbow with glitter on top.
  3. I’m a creative nerd, loving both art & science.
  4. If I could have any super power it would be the ability to fly.
  5. I’m a snail mail nut; I love sending and receiving pretty handwritten correspondence.
  6. If you want to kill me just slip any kind of nut (except for almonds), or buckwheat into something I’m eating & you will succeed.
  7. I’m a super super coffee snob, and despise Starbucks.
  8. I won’t leave the house without earrings on.

Giving the Perfect Gift

It all starts with who you’re giving to.

I feel like I need to repeat that, it all starts with who you’re giving to.

When I work with private clients who are looking to give to an awesome human they care deeply for, the first thing I do is have them fill out a questionnaire about said human.

Discovering what makes the receiver who they are enables me to advise appropriately to the giver.

The A of G

We or I? I choose to use “we” because I (Ashley) work with an amazing collective of Makers on everything I do at The Anthropology Of Giving.

Yes, behind the scenes I’m a one person show, but nothing would come to fruition without the brilliant people I choose to collaborate with.

We’re based in beautiful (but rainy) Vancouver, BC Canada, and currently work with Canadian Makers & Canadian Charities.

As we grow, we plan on working with creatives from other wonderful places around the globe.

To keep it simple, we make things and combine those things with items made by other designers/artists/makers we admire greatly to group them into collections.

Each collection has a theme & purpose.

Each collection gives back to charity.

Almost all of the items we choose to share with the world are handmade, and we know the people who make them.

It’s all about spreading goodness by giving.
